Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

2 cups all purpose flour
2 Tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup cold butter
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 cup buttermilk

In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pepper.  Cut in butter.  Add the cheese and toss.  Stir in buttermilk.  Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead about 10 times.  Pat or roll to 1 inch thickness; cut with a floured biscuit cutter.  Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 425 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
